Small Doll Babies - Diz-E Image

The Doll Baby Series is a tribute to both my parents. My mother used to sew and create amazing clothes for herself, my dolls and me. My father originally from the south referred to all my dolls as “Doll Babies” The series started with 6 creations that sold to an African art collector who owned a gallery. The imagery was adorned with either European or African fabrics. What the collector appreciated was the omission of details such as hair and features in the faces dismisses the superficial forms of beauty of the doll baby. The choices of fabrics and accessories made the pieces. The goal is to exhibit a variety of works celebrating women without the superficial part and adding my written material in the work.
